Getting here
The sandstone frontage on George Street
Look for the sandstone front with the arched window and the old brass plate beside the door. The plate still reads assay office and we have no intention of taking it down.
There is free parking on the street after six and a council car park a block behind, which is a two-minute walk on a lit footpath.
The step at the front door is original and steep; there is a level entrance through the side lane, and if you ring ahead somebody will have it unlocked and lit for you.

Bookings
Before you telephone
How late can I book for the same evening?
Up to seven, and later than that only if the second assay is quiet.
Do you take a deposit?
Never. A telephone call books it and a telephone call cancels it.
Can I hold a card table?
Three of the eight, for up to six people, in the strongroom passage.
Larger groups?
Up to sixteen with a fortnight's notice, and we will put you in the passage.
Confirm you are 18 or over
Past this notice is a licensed house for adults: a kitchen, a bar and eight card tables in an old assay office.
Nothing here can be played online, nothing is wagered and there are no gaming machines — it happens at 74 George Street or it does not happen.
